It’s been a lot of fun fishing the South Shore this year. The Perch were plentiful and the weather was fantastic. I don’t have much experience when it comes to fishing, in fact my 14 year old cousin teaches me mostly everything I know. I have fished more this year than I had in the past 17 years. I have my brother to thank for getting me back into the sport.
As a child I didn’t enjoy fishing much, perhaps it was the long trips out to Quebec and the constant car sickness I had to endure. I remember doing a lot of complaining and little fishing. If I had only paid attention at that time perhaps I’d be an extremely experienced fisherman to this day.
I’m not sure why, or how but it seems I am a fishing addict in my adult life. I enjoy a minimum of 8 hours on the ice, anything less is unacceptable. I enjoy the luxury of all the new portable gear offered from large companies and find myself itching to by one of everything… but obviously I cannot.
I have acquired a few items such as the Eskimo QuickFish 3, a few Rapala rods and lures along with a nice Eskimo 6 inch hand ice auger. The sport can be expensive so I’m finding myself acquiring the things that are most important to handle the cold weather conditions Northern Ontario can throw at me.
As winter comes to an end, I am very excited to get the boat on the water and to fish even more. I cannot wait to start visiting some back lakes to and to share with you; my readers. I am open to sponsors so if you enjoy my site and are looking for product reviews please contact me and we will be sure to test out and review any products you wish.
